If I am entitled for pet treatment at PDSA, do I still need pet insurance?
I am in receipt of counctil tax benefit and so have just realised I am entitled for my pet to be treated at the PDSA.

no, you do not require pet insurance if you qualify for PDSA treatment, still, not a bad idea to have it.
a pdsa pet aid certificate covers the vets fees but only covers medication up to about £3 per item which excludes a lot of drugs etc!!!
as you get council tax benefit you can use pdsa they are a great service and very good with your
pets health you will be asked for a donation when you regiester your pet
Not always a good idea to have pet insurance but it might be a good idea to put aside a small amount each week for your pet just in case.
You do not require to have your pet insured but insurance is for more than just vets fees. If you have a dog and it runs in front of a car and damages it you are liable for the cost of the repairs, your insurance covers this. Also if it damages someones property or bites someone your insurance should also pay out for this. If your dog is lost or stolen you get money to help find it and if you don’t they would normally pay youu the value of the dog. Unless you think any of these things are likely to happen I wouldn’t bother.
The PDSA covers everything – my mother in laws dog has had operations and is on constant medication. She has to pay something towards it and she always pays as much as she can afford, as should everyone that uses their services to keep them able to help out pet owners in the future.
The PDSA are a charity as as so only have so much money and can only do so much for ill or injuried pets. If something happened to your dog and it need to see a specailised vet they may not be able to help.
